“ I love the ocean and especially the tidal zones. Alaska has some of the largest tides in the world and one of the best places to go birding and see the rich marine life associated with them is at Ketchemak Bay in Southcoastal Alaska. I like to go near low tide when the kelp beds are exposed and form large abstract patterns in reflected blue waters. At first I may not see any obvious wildlife but soon I start to notice the intertidal life, and if I glass the horizon, I’m sure to pick out a scan of low flying eiders.”
